What the player needs to know

Start with the fixed activity rewards
Complete Pilgrimage of Power: Bear Trouble directly west across the river from Laslea Gate shrine to obtain Ravenous Flock. Cycle of Ruin comes from the Ancient Circle at the western end of the Cursed Chasm in far-west Briar Sloughs. Soul Reaping is awarded by the Ancient Circle directly east of Maragir through the forest.
Unholy Vitality comes from Haunted: Site of Crucifixion south of St. Clement’s Monastery and the Eerie Knoll shrine. Soul Stigma is at the Ancient Circle northeast of the St. Tyna’s Grove Tower shrine. Burning Blood starts unlocked, but another manual is available at the Ancient Circle southwest of Eerie Knoll. These named activities are safer targets than hoping for an unrepeatable bookcase drop.
| Ability | Fixed source |
|---|---|
| Ravenous Flock | Pilgrimage of Power: Bear Trouble |
| Cycle of Ruin | West Cursed Chasm Ancient Circle |
| Soul Reaping | Ancient Circle east of Maragir |
| Burning Blood upgrade | Ancient Circle southwest of Eerie Knoll |
| Unholy Vitality | Haunted: Site of Crucifixion |
| Soul Stigma | Northeast St. Tyna’s Grove Ancient Circle |
Collect the quest-linked abilities
Mercurial Fervor unlocks through Anca after the prologue, and another manual sits on the top floor of the St. Tyna’s Convent library during Echoes of Silenced Bells. Unholy Vitality has another copy from that quest’s final boss. Life Lock unlocks automatically during Who Pulls the Strings in the Manumit chain after The Firebrand, Shadows in the Woods and Where Loyalty Lies.
Quest sources can be more efficient than isolated collecting because they advance relationships or factions while granting the ability. Before leaving the convent, search the library thoroughly; returning later may take more travel and can obscure which quest state opened the area.
- Search the St. Tyna’s Convent library.
- Finish Echoes of Silenced Bells for another Unholy Vitality copy.
- Advance the Manumits to Who Pulls the Strings for Life Lock.
- Record whether a pickup unlocks or upgrades the ability.
Buy missing levels from named merchants
Anca sells after Echoes of Silenced Bells at the Crossroads Inn. Vera is in the eastern Briar Sloughs swamp southeast of Mert’s Mill. The Peddler of Wonders is in the Midden west of Svartrau, while unmarked Mevasser lives in Neustadt near the stone archway off the central square.
The Uriash Matriarch becomes accessible through Lacra’s Song of the Mountain route. The Sanzhana merchant requires Gone Home and continued help through Letters to Lunka and Pearly and Precious. Merchant access is story-dependent, so use fixed activity rewards first if those questlines are not part of the current run.
The activity rewards and merchant locations are compiled from an independent launch-build guide. Verification will record whether each source grants the first unlock or another ability level, plus the current quest and world state. Unmarked bookcase finds are omitted until repeatable; the page favors fixed Ancient Circles, Haunted Sites, Pilgrimages and named vendors.
