What the player needs to know

Coen develops through three named paths: Swordmastery, Witchcraft and Vampirism. Official skill material links growth to practice, manuals, feeding and corruption rather than presenting every power as a simple level-up purchase. Complete skill costs, prerequisites, respec behavior and rankings require the launch tree and tested effects.

The duel represents problems a build must solve, while node costs, prerequisites and effects belong to the verified skill record.

The three development paths

Swordmastery covers martial development around Coen’s weapon combat. Witchcraft is learned power, with manuals forming part of its acquisition. Vampirism is tied to his night form and to systems including feeding and corruption.

Those identities are confirmed; a complete node diagram is not. Promotional descriptions can establish a path’s theme without proving every prerequisite or final numerical effect.

Why there is no best skill list yet

A skill’s text is only one part of its value. Encounter frequency, resource cost, animation commitment, day/night availability and the opportunity to respec all matter. Ranking isolated descriptions before those factors can be compared would turn uncertainty into false confidence.

The first tested recommendations will be framed by problem: early survival, directional defense, crowd control, exploration access or a specific night encounter.

Plan a first build without a tier list

Spend toward the system you actually use and preserve flexibility until the respec rules are known. Note whether an unlock consumes story time or another scarce resource, especially for manuals and vampire progression.

The launch tree will be transcribed node by node with prerequisite, cost, acquisition condition and tested effect. Descriptions will be checked against actual values, including duration, range, resource use and day/night availability where relevant. Respec tests will preserve a branch before spending and will state whether currency, time or another condition is consumed. Rankings will not be derived from tooltips alone; they will link to the encounter or route where the skill produced a repeatable advantage.

  • Learn one reliable defensive answer.
  • Avoid splitting points merely to fill every branch.
  • Record acquisition cost and day/night restriction.
  • Keep a save before irreversible corruption or respec tests.
