What the player needs to know

Why your inventory is empty when you start
Nothing is broken and no code needs redeeming. The set is gated behind a story beat rather than delivered at launch, so pre-order buyers who open their bags on the opening screen find nothing and reasonably assume the entitlement failed. It has not. The grant fires automatically the moment the prologue closes out, with no store menu or support ticket involved.
It is worth separating two things that get confused here. The pre-order gives you the set early; it does not give you the set exclusively. Bandai Namco describes it as an early unlock, and players without a qualifying pre-order can still reach the same three pieces through ordinary progression later. What you bought is timing.
The exact trigger at the end of the prologue
Every prologue beat before this one counts toward the chapter but none of them award the armor on its own. Helping villagers in daylight, attending the mass and fighting out of the mines all sit inside the same chapter. The grant is tied specifically to the last interactive object in it.
Because clearing the rubble is a mandatory objective rather than an optional one, there is no way to miss the reward by playing badly. If the set has not appeared, the prologue is not finished yet, or the copy you own does not carry the pre-order entitlement.
- Play until the journal updates to the Smoke and Ashes objective pointing at the village gate.
- Travel to the gate and find Anca waiting beside the debris.
- Interact with the rubble; Coen clears it and the prologue closes immediately afterwards.
- Watch for three confirmations in quick succession: the thank-you screen, the A Dawnwalker is Born trophy, and three item notifications.
- If you clicked past the item alerts, open the armor tab in your inventory; all three pieces are already there.
Three pieces that pull in three directions
This is not a set you wear as a set. Each piece leans toward a different half of Coen, which makes mixing it with your existing day and night loadouts more sensible than equipping all three because they share a name. The breastplate is built for vampire play, the chausses feed witchcraft, and the boots push human survivability and raw weapon damage.
Armor values reported at launch put the chausses well ahead of the other two, which matters if you are looking for a straight early upgrade rather than a themed build. Weigh that against the proficiency problem below before swapping anything out.
| Piece | Armor value | What it favours |
|---|---|---|
| Chausses of the Sangoran Wayfarer | 80 | Witchcraft damage and activation charge from blocks |
| Breastplate of the Sangoran Wayfarer | 60 | Claw damage, damage against mortals, blood drinking |
| Boots of the Sangoran Wayfarer | 54 | Maximum human health, weapon damage, damage to supernatural enemies |
Why you probably should not equip it yet
Owning the armor and using it well are different things, and this is the part that catches people out. The chausses are medium armor while the breastplate and boots are heavy, and Coen finishes the prologue with proficiency in neither category. The game still lets you equip all three, but wearing gear you are not proficient in is reported to apply a 30 percent stat penalty, which can make a nominally better piece worse than what you are already wearing.
Removing that penalty means finding the relevant manuals and then unlocking the matching perks at a shrine, which costs both time segments and skill points on a clock that does not stop. The set does not expire or disappear while it sits in your bags, so there is no cost to leaving it there until the proficiency is actually worth buying.
Checked September 10, 2026 against two independent launch-build guides that agree on the end-of-prologue trigger, the thank-you screen, the simultaneous trophy and the three pieces. They give the prologue village different names, so this page describes the objective rather than the place name. The proficiency penalty and per-piece effects come from a single account and are attributed as such. This site has not replayed the prologue or measured the stat penalty.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my pre-order armor in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
In your inventory once the prologue ends. It is granted when you clear the rubble at the village gate during Smoke and Ashes, not when you first launch the game.
Why can I not equip the Sangoran Wayfarer set properly?
The chausses are medium armor and the breastplate and boots are heavy, and Coen has no proficiency in either at the end of the prologue. You can equip them anyway, but a reported 30 percent stat penalty applies until you unlock the matching perks.
Can I get the set without pre-ordering?
Yes. Bandai Namco describes the bonus as an early unlock rather than exclusive gear, and the same three pieces remain obtainable through normal progression later in the game.
The thank-you screen appeared but I see no armor. What now?
Open the armor tab in your inventory directly. The three item notifications are easy to click past, and all three pieces should already be sitting there.
