What the player needs to know

A low-loss prologue order is Live Bait; Dead Drop and Withering Away; optional Page-Turner; finish Withering Away; then Enter Not, If a Tree Falls and Deep Down; Blasphemy; Disturbed; and Like Father, Like Son. Into the Den is not time-sensitive and can wait until after the Blood Mass. Save before each hourglass choice because the route is a recommendation, not a required canon path.

The opening day teaches Dawnwalker’s time economy under pressure; this route groups nearby objectives while preserving the choices that matter most.

Use the eight segments as a route, not a checklist

The prologue gives the player eight daytime segments before the Blood Mass. A clock icon identifies a time-sensitive quest, while an hourglass and number show the cost of the action about to be taken. Independent route testing found that the opening deliberately contains more attractive work than can comfortably fit, so accepting every marker is not the same as protecting the most important outcomes.

Getting caught stealing can remove four segments, and unlocking some shrine skills also spends time. Make a manual save before a costly prompt, finish the objective already in front of you and avoid paying for an upgrade simply because the node is available.

Protect the medicine route first

Withering Away is the first objective whose result can materially change Esme’s condition. Visit Anca, obtain the herbs and leave enough room to return home and brew the medicine before the evening sequence. Page-Turner is optional relationship setup and costs another segment, so take it intentionally rather than assuming every conversation is free.

When the brewing prompt appears, the recipe cannot be reopened from the same screen. The correct inputs are hot water and three spoonfuls of herbs. The dedicated recipe page keeps that answer separate so a player who is already at the pot does not have to scan a full prologue walkthrough.

Leave recoverable work for later

Into the Den can be returned to after the prologue, which makes it the clearest task to postpone when the schedule is tight. Someone Needs a Lesson and On the Run provide character context, but the tested route prioritizes objectives with stronger immediate consequences. That is an editorial priority, not a claim that those scenes have no value.

Before advancing to evening, scan the journal for clock-marked objectives, confirm that Withering Away is resolved and keep a separate manual save. Do not switch to night merely to test the form change if the game warns that doing so advances the Blood Mass sequence.

This route is based on independent launch-build testing and is presented as a practical low-loss order, not the only valid role-playing path. A clean-save replay will verify every time cost, discovery trigger and consequence on the current patch before the page claims an optimal route of its own. Dialogue that changes tone without changing access or survival will stay optional. If a patch moves an objective or alters a deadline, the previous route will be dated rather than silently overwritten.

  • Check the clock icon for expiry pressure.
  • Read the hourglass cost before confirming.
  • Postpone Into the Den if the opening schedule is full.
  • Keep a branch save before the final evening commitment.

Frequently asked questions

Can you complete every quest in the Dawnwalker prologue?

The opening is designed around limited segments, so the safest assumption is that you must prioritize. Some work, including Into the Den, remains available after the Blood Mass.

What should I do first in Laslea?

The tested route begins with Live Bait, then groups Dead Drop with the start of Withering Away before returning to finish Esme’s medicine.

Does learning skills spend time in the prologue?

Some shrine skill unlocks show an hourglass cost. Read the displayed number before buying a node so an upgrade does not consume a segment you reserved for a timed quest.
